Check this out. People praying, candles, a church, more praying, the sun…black figures ascending. What’s with the black figures? Does anyone have any insight or any ideas?

The only other black figure in the church. I thought this was neat because it has what looks like a Native American. But this is Africa . What gives?

the black figures are just silhouettes. They are probably black because the artist wanted the viewers to understand that they were facing a different angle (not profile, not front) but facing the back...therefore, their backs are toward us.

It is wonderful art and true to form causes all who gaze to take away something different or at least to ponder what it might mean..
